Weekend updates and photos

The weekends just seem to fly by. Friday night we were going to head out to dinner for JL’s birthday. Unfortunately, the weather nixed those plans. We stayed home and went to the Chinese take out place and brought things home. At night I let JL watch things on the DVR that were waiting for him while I worked on things for my online courses.

Yesterday was filled with errands. In the morning we went to the ATM, library, to get gas (where we saw my parents), BJ’s, Target, and the grocery store. We also took NHL to the playground of his new school to play for a little while. No camera was present, so no photos :(

Recently NHL has been waking up a lot at night. We think his nightmares are directly related to events from the chin incident and fear of the unknown in his future. He’s very upset about leaving the daycare center/nursery school that he has been at for 3 years now. He likes the idea of the new school, but change is hard, especially for an almost 4 year old. Last night he was up at least 2 times. Once JL had to go in and settle him down after a trip to the bathroom. Amazingly JSL slept through all of this.

NHL woke up this morning and JSL was starting to fuss. He wasn’t awake so we left him. About 15 minutes later I went to look since I didn’t hear him. Here’s a photos of what I found (remember he’s a tummy sleeper):

He was just doing baby exercises and when we went in there he was “chatting” up a storm. The cutest part is when we said Hi JSL and he responded back with a sweet little “Hi” very clearly. Remember he won’t be 3 months old until next Monday.

Here’s a photo of NHL on the floor of the “Boys room” playing:

We did the breakfast thing, JL made cookies for a birthday gift and NHL got ready to head out with Nana and Papa. I managed to get both of the boys dressed. JSL is in a new outfit that he got. It’s a 3-6 month size that I thought would be huge since 0-3 still fit him. Boy was I wrong. NHL really approved of it since it has dinosaurs. Here are a few shots of my two little boys.

And last but not least a photo of all 3 of my boys including the 30-something one:

Now JSL is sleeping, NHL is out with Nana and Papa, and JL is using his new electric hedge trimmer to reclaim the area outside our house. Those darn trees and things grow too darn fast.

I am going to try to get some of my computer things done while everyone is doing something else.

Hoffman’s Fun!

My parents came over to pick NHL up and take him to lunch. Then we decided to meet them at Hoffman’s Playland to take enjoy rides and take some photos there. They did some rides before we got there, but we managed to see a bunch. Here are two slide shows of some of the things we did today. Enjoy!

Rough weekend

This morning NHL and JL got up and let JSL and I sleep a little longer. I got up just in time to make sure JL was ready for the handy man that was coming to look at repairing the siding on the house and checking out our basement pipe that keeps spewing. The man came and did both things for a very reasonable price. After that I took a shower and tried the sample of the Venus Breeze razor that I was sent and I am in LOVE! I used it since I didn’t have the time to use my electric razor. Man this was so nice. You don’t need shaving gel and it left my legs feeling amazing and no cuts either!

Once I was done and had tossed a load of towels into the wash we went out to the mall. We went to EB to get Big Brain Academy for the Wii (with a gift card) and then went to an early lunch in the food court since it was empty. JSL was sleeping so the three of us were able to get things and eat. Then JSL woke up and I fed him a bottle of milk I pumped before we left. After this we went to Borders to look at things since I have a ton of gift cards for there. We all went to the restrooms there. I took JSL and changed his diaper and JL was with NHL. When I came out NHL was curled up on JL’s lap. He was acting tired all morning and JL thought he was warm. No temperature this morning.

We got NHL a few books (buy 2 get 1 free) and went home. JL had to carry NHL to t he car since he was so out of it. We got home and he napped. At 4:00 NHL was up and acting odd and was warm. We took his temperature and it was 100.3 so I went to CVS to get some meds since the liquids we had here were WAY old. At dinner he started talking a mile a minute. NOT a good sign. At 7:45 we took his temperature since he was really acting odd. It was 102+ with the motrin in him. My parents went to get us Tylenol. He got that at close to 8:00. At 8:45 his temp was 103 – so we called the doctor. The new woman was on call. She called at 9:15 and told us how much to give him (more aggressive on the motrin). So we have our game plan for the night, but are always afraid since he had the febrile seizure July 17, 2004. . . ACK!

So at 12:30 we have to wake him up for more Tylenol and 3:30 for Motrin. Then we’ll see how it goes. Meanwhile JSL is sleeping in our room and he’s all cranky. UGH! We’re doing our best at keeping the little one away from NHL, but it’s tough in small quarters.

On that note I am off to get some water and rest before we have to fight NHL again to take more meds.

Busy Day & Surprise

Today we went on a bunch of errands. We left the house at 10:50 and didn’t get home until 5:30. First we went to get NHL’s hair cut. NHL is getting better (sort of) with the hair thing, but is still very frightened by the sound of the clippers. While waiting for his turn a weird woman walks up and comes down to the ground where I am sitting with JSL in his carrier. She asked if she can SMELL the baby. Before I can nicely say NO she sticks her nose into his carrier to smell him and exclaims “Yup, still has that newborn smell!” I swear all of the weirdos were at the hair place today!

After that we stopped at a local candy store to get NHL a lollipop since they no longer give them out at the hair place. Then we went to lunch out. JL and I had a craving for salad so we went to Golden Corral since that fit the bill. At the end of the meal JSL woke up from a nap and was VERY hungry. I left and since it was cooler today I was able to nurse him in the back of the van.

Next we went to the mall. JL insisted on this since he wanted me to take my engagement ring to the jewelry store there to get it fixed. Note this for later. Basically my diamond setting isn’t holding my stone correctly and needs a new head (it wiggles – no relation to –> Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket). So I wanted to find out when they could do it and get it done before something happens.

We parked by Sears and poor JL had the million diaper changes with JSL. NHL and I left after the second one in as many minutes and went to the Christmas Tree Shop. Here we found great buckets for the pool, dinosaur flash cards and some other cute things. Then we went to look at EB for Wii things (didn’t get anything today). After that we went to the jewelry store. JL went ahead of me with NHL. Out of the corner of my eye I see him handing over a slip of paper (a receipt) for something. Then they go and retrieve something. I quickly caught on, but continued on my mission of asking about my engagement ring fix. Basically for a new platinum head that will be custom fit for my diamond will run us $200. Still it really isn’t an option since it will cost us more IF something happens to my ring and we need to make a claim on the insurance policy. So this week they will call me to come in and do it while I wait instead of keeping it for 10+ days.

SO back to JL’s little secret. He gives me the little box and tells me Happy Mother’s Day and Anniversary! I open it up and it’s a Mother and Child pendant. Something that I had once mentioned I was very interested in some day, but didn’t need now. The first thing I did was to smack him (it was a love smack) and tell him I didn’t need it. Then I noticed it was yellow gold and questioned that. I now feel bad about seeming ungrateful, but the entire thing was very awkward in the middle of the store. Anyway, it really is beautiful. The picture below of the yellow gold pendant is what he got me, only mine has a peridot (for NHL) and emerald (for JSL)in them for each of the boys. Also below is a picture of the necklace that my mother got me after I had JSL. I had never seen anything like it before. It’s a family one with two parents and two children.

BTW – JL had me fooled on the present. He was talking about getting me a new digital camera for this present since mine died. Apparently he went to lunch at the Cheesecake Factory with two of his co-workers and the lady in the geek patrol convinced him to get it. Sneaky devil isn’t he?

Out last stop in the mall was to Pay Less Shoes. For the first time (I think) NHL has worn out a pair of shoes before completely outgrowing them. So we went there to look for some new sneakers. They had a pair he really liked, but they didn’t have his size (they fit, but barely had growing room). We got them to put a hold on a pair of them in his size at the other mall. Then JL found a pair of sandals and we got those for him. Finally it was time to head out of the mall.

Our last stop before home was my parents house to feed their cockatoo and fish. While there I fed JSL. Then we packed up and went home where JSL was hungry yet again (damn growth spurt is killing me). Eventually we got both of the boys into bed and watched some Mork & Mindy Season 1 (from the library) before JL made some granola bars and is playing with the Wii. He best be more careful since he is now bleeding from smacking his hand while “playing tennis” and hit my laptop as I sit here typing this.

On that note I think I am off to bed. I have a feeling JSL will be up . . . maybe now since I hear one of the boys stirring now.
