Tinkle Tinkle . . . my little star

Last Sunday JSL walked into the bathroom while Daddy was in there. He pointed to his rear end and said "poop!" JL called to tell me and the little guy waddled to the changing table take me there. I checked and there was nothing inside.

We asked JSL if he would like to be like big brother and sit on the potty. The little guy got very excited and ran to the bathroom. We found the potty seat that goes on the big throne and cleaned it off for him. One slight problem happened, the pee guard (pretty crucial in the beginning for little boys) was missing. JL said that he would assist JSL while sitting on the potty.

Much to our surprise JSL was very at ease on the potty. He happily sat there and chatted. Of course NHL, JL and I were all there cheering him on. He gave me some funny looks for snapping photos, but it was a milestone that had to be documented.

Hey, what are you doing?

Then he was telling us where poop comes from:

Smart cookie

After about 7-10 minutes he was antsy so we took him off the potty. He did not do any business while sitting there, but it was a great experience for a 17 month old. Since that time he has probably sat on the potty seat 2-3 more times. Usually he asks. He will just sit there and chat and look around the bathroom. Of course he also understand the importance of good dental hygiene.

Dental health was the topic of conversation

Last night we decided to plunk him onto the potty before a tub. I was manning the pee guard duty when all of the sudden I heard a tinkle sound! We all cheered for JSL and he was quite impressed with the noise we made. So just a few days after he turned 17 months old he peed in the potty.

We are not even close to real potty training. Still these little accomplishments are a step in the right direction. It was especially fitting given he just used his last size four diaper this morning. We shall see how things go, but thanks to big brother NHL we may be inspired a lot sooner than I may be ready for. Of course who am I to complain about the possibility of no more diapers!

Wow, Wow. . . what a weekend

Thank goodness NHL’s eye is doing so much better. The antibiotic drops really seem to be helping. The croup cough will not go away, so I will likely give a call to the allergists office Tuesday when his doctor is back from vacation. Something needs to help him and perhaps it is using the nebulizer that has been sitting and collecting dust.

Before eating last night I decided to take JSL out of the house. He had been stuck inside all day. I wanted to get to Rite Aid because they had amazing deals on cold care items. There were two entire pages in thier ad of items that were free after single check rebate. I decided it was finally time to try something beside CVS and the ECBs. Below are all of the items that I purchased. The cost up front was about $43, but I should get all of that back in a single check rebate. Not too bad, especially since we are all battling things now.

Cold product score from Rite Aid

When JSL and I arrived back home our pizza was ready. NHL had already eaten some and wanted to go watch television. He was so tired after refusing to nap all day. He was too afraid that his eye would close shut again. While JL, JSL and I finished dinner NHL went to relax on the couch. One minute he was chatting away, the next we found him like so:

Fell asleep mid chat

Something that the boys loved this weekend actually arrived at our door Thursday. It was the Wow Wow Wubbzy giveaway package that I won from 5 Minutes for Mom. Talk about perfect timing! The boys loved watching the A Tale of Tails DVD and each claimed one of the books. Here are all of the goodies that were included. Thanks again ladies!

Wow, Wow . . . what a win!

Something pretty exciting happend to the little guy tonight, details to follow soon.

Croquet for Columbus Day

If the weather would stay like it is right now I would be perfectly happy. The weekend was absolutely gorgeous and 70 degrees each day. The sun was out and the sky clear. It even made sick me want to go outside to enjoy it for a little while.

Saturday while JSL was taking a nap, JL and NHL went outside to get some energy out. It was time to make him run, jump, play and get some sun. While outside I decided to take some photos of the boys playing croquet.

Croquet for Columbus Day

Today the two little guys are home with me. We hope to be able to get outside to enjoy the weather while it is here. The end of the week calls for temperatures barely making it to the 50’s. Talk about a major change!

Enjoy the fall while it is here.

Fun nearly ruined

A week ago at this time we were on the road to Six Flags. JSL was staying with my parents for the day and we had a special day set for NHL. Our things were ready to go, our prepaid tickets printed and everyone was excited for a fabulous day at the park.

When we arrived at our destination we opted to drive past the park and head to lunch. We quickly found a cute little pizza place and went there. After lunch we got back into our car and went to the parking area of the park. As I was loading things up to go inside the park I looked at JL and asked where my purse was.

Ever have one of those moments where your heart skips a beat and you can not breathe?  This was my moment.

My purse was not there. I then recalled putting it on the seat next to me at the pizza place. I am not used to having a purse, especially a small one and just forgot it. I quickly went to an attendant in the parking lot. He told us to go to the gate and ask for our parking pass back since we had a prepaid. JL hopped out of the car and went to the gate where we had paid. They quickly gave it back to us.

As we drove a short distance it seemed like forever to me. I had to literally remind myself to breathe. My heart was ready to leap out of my throat. Everything was in that purse – cash, credit cards, gift cards, drivers license . . . the works! The tickets for the park were safely in the backpack in the car with us.

When we finally arrived back at the restaurant JL ran in. People were sititng at the table where we had been. They saw how anxious JL was and asked if he was looking for a purse. Sure enough when they sat down they saw it and gave it to the people of the restaurant. Everything was still inside – thank goodness there still are honest people.

When we drove back to the park my heart was slowly settling back down. We were lucky enough to be able to go right back to the parking spot we had left (right next to the bridge to the park) and went in.

After a few rides and watching NHL’s smiling face I was able to put the scare behind me. Thank goodness our day was not ruined by my stupidity!

While visiting in Looney Tunes National Park NHL and JL went onto a little roller coaster. Here is a sign that we passed on the way there.

A Sign in the park

Here are the boys waiting for and then going on the ride. It was anticlimatic after the Bobsled ride, but fun none-the-less.

Riding the Road Runner Express

Of course when you are near Wile E Coyote there has to be TNT. I thought this was cute and too funny not to take a photo of.

Kaboom!

When we were ready to head out of the area they still had the water on and JL joked that he would toss NHL in to cool off.

1, 2, 3 . . . . Toss!

Clearly finding my purse was meant to be. Someone was definitely watching over us. Had something different happened in the morning, none of these memories would have happened.
