Holiday park fun with the boys

Since today is Columbus Day, NHL does not have school. I took the boys to get something special out for lunch and we brought it back to Nana’s house. Nana went with us to the library after that to return some items. We picked up a few new books and then went to the park. This is the point that I realized I had left my camera at home (batteries are acting up again). So please excuse my cell phone photo quality, but it helped to capure some moments in time.

Here is the little guy hamming it up on the train:

Choo-Choo Time

NHL was trying to avoid me while on the slide, but he stopped for a few seconds:

Then I asked for a photo of the two of them together – NOT! A three year old and seven year old do not stay still long enough on a playground for long.

Just as NHL got hurt

Nana had the boys stop to check out the acorns on the ground. NHL was really into investigating the holes in the ground where they were located.

After that, it was big blue slide time. For some reason, JSL wanted to hold Nana’s hand on the way down.

Next, they were both eaten by a hippo, flew on an airplane, and rode on a giant purple T-Rex.

And last but not least they spun themselves dizzy, were swinging to the sky, and went rock climbing before heading home.

More fun at the park

Sorry for the day off, but I am spending it with my two sepcial little boys. With any luck, the weather will continue to be like this and I will get a few more fun afternoons outside with my kiddos.

Roof be gone. . . literally

Roof be gone

This just has to have some words this week. Tuesday afternoon, the sky was turning black when I went to pick NHL up from school. I let him play on the playground for a few minutes. Then the rain started to come down a little and we ran to the car. We made it home as the wind started to gust. Within seconds of getting into the house, we could not tell it was day time and the hail started. The wind was horrible. I went to unplug the computer and get the kids to sit on the couch. The lights flickered and for a while the storm surged outside. The wind and sounds outside were unreal.

When it was over, I thought we were lucky. Many people in the area had no power. Ours stayed constant. TechyDad was making dinner and my parents stopped by to see the kids quickly. When I went to follow them outside to say goodbye, something caught my eye. There a metal area on the roof that did not look right to me.

I did not check alone. I went inside and asked hubby to come quickly outside. We went back onto the sidewalk and to our horror saw the hole in our roof (the flat rubber section) with birds flying into it. I immediately wanted to be sick. I called my parents to come back over to see it. Then, I ran inside to call the insurance company. They have people calling in the morning. I was given a number of a person to call Tuesday night to try to get a tarp put up. Unfortunately, they told me that it would be too dark and could not do it. So, tonight, little sleep will be had as we hope that the scattered thunder storms STAY AWAY until we can get a tarp up.

*sigh*   Dull moment I could really use you!

Thoughts of Disney, Spring and being outside

This spring has been wild and wacky, weather wise and beyond. So many things going on here there and everywhere. One minute, we are outside in shorts, the next, bundling up to stay warm. Of course, the cooler days allowed me to finally break out the coat that I got while attending the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. I love this since it reminds me of all of the amazing people that I met and the good times at Disney World. It will be actually be sad to put it away until the fall. Here I am enjoying a cooler day outside. Please excuse the frizzy, wind blown hair.

DisneySMMoms Dreaming

When you look around outside, the flowers are coming up and trees are showing their glorious spring colors. This one was taken outside of NHL’s school. Not the best picture, but like the rest, taken on the fly with my cell phone.

Bee in the flowers

Like the insects, my kiddos are confused. One day they are able to play outside in the sun without a jacket, the next it is rainy or windy and time to stay inside. JSL is definitely antsy. At almost three years old, he begs to spend time outside. Once the laundry was done today, I took my allergy medicine and we played before going to pick up big brother. We bought some new chairs and I sat and did this while soaking up some much needed vitamin D:

I was able to finish another knitted cloth all while watch this:

Days like this make me thankful for the time at home with my boys and the simple things in life.
