No need to adjust your eyes. You are reading correctly. It is February 14th and technically Valentine’s Day, but in our house it will now be called Disney Junior Day. For months now, my three year old son has been crying to see Disney Junior. He did not understand that he would have to wait until this day to see the newly revamped television programing for children by Disney. This is what we have been teased with for quite some time:
About Disney Junior:
Beginning on February 14, 2011, Disney Junior will be available every morning on Disney Channel! Disney Junior invites mom and dad to join their child in the Disney experience of magical, musical and heartfelt stories and characters, while incorporating specific learning and development themes designed for kids age 2-7. Disney Junior’s animated and live action series blend Disney’s unparalleled storytelling and characters kids love deeply with learning, including early math, language skills, healthy eating and lifestyles, and social skills.
In our house this Valentine’s Day, we will have a little chocolate, and wear red, but the most exciting part will be checking out Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Babar and the Adventures of Badou, Tinga Tinga Tales, and other Disney favorites.
Disclosure: As a big Disney fan, I felt the need to share this special day with my readers. After listening to my son cry for weeks to see Disney Junior, it seemed like a monumental event in our lives.
Have you ever tried to find a belt for a young child? We have had to do this many times. If you can find kids belts, there are very few to pick from. Typically, the ones that are available are tough even for an adult to use. Imagine how this will work with a toddler that is recently potty trained? It is an accident just waiting to happen.
A while ago, I heard about a product called Dapper Snappers that helps to solve the kids belt dilemma. I was very intrigued about it. It seemed like a great product to assist my newly potty trained three year old, along with my older son that has some fine motor trouble with belt buckles. Thanks to Family Review Network, I recently had the opportunity to test out one of their boys belts.
More About the Dapper Snapper:
The best way to understand Dapper Snappers is to see one in action. Here is their video showing how to use this product:
As you can see, the Dapper Snapper attaches to the back of pants, so children will not have another item to contend with when nature calls. Even if pants do not have belt loops, there are Dapper Snapper Clips that help to alleviate droopy drawers. Some additional facts:

What We Thought:
The other day, JSL (3) came running across the house and nearly tripped over his own two feet. TechyDad noticed that his pants were around his ankles. When I went to take a closer look, I saw his underpants. These nice pants, that had once been NHL’s, were not going to work. Normally when that happens, I change to another pair since we can not use a kids belt with him. He is too little to maneuver them on his own, and they really don’t make many.
This time I had another choice. Two days earlier, my complimentary review sample from Dapper Snappers arrived. I barely managed to hold JSL still long enough to snap a before and after photo. He’s a three year old that is constantly on the go and not into photos these days.
For the rest of the day, we never had any issues with JSL’s pants. He was able to use the facilities without a problem. We pretty much forgot that the Dapper Snappers were there until the end of the day (not a bad thing mind you). I seriously wish that I had purchased some Dapper Snappers when they first came out and I heard about them. They would have been fabulous to use when NHL was receiving occupational therapy. Oh well, at least we have them now to help with the little guy when we need them to give more life to a pair of otherwise too baggy pants.
Thank you Dapper Snappers for helping to cure the droopy drawers within our lives!
Disclosure: This post was written for Family Review Network & Dapper Snappers who provided the complimentary product in exchange for my honest review. No other compensation was given and all opinions are 100% mine.
This morning, when I woke up and got out of bed I was freezing. Nothing too alarming really, we keep the house at 63 degrees, and we just got 13 inches of snow yesterday. Here you can see what it looked like before it stopped:
It’s not rocket science, we know it’s cold. When I got NHL up, he went to the couch and complained he was freezing. This is where a red alert should have happened. NHL is never cold unless he is sick, and (*KNOCK ON WOOD*) he is not sick yet. I went over to the thermostat and clicked it up two degrees and walked away.
Did you notice I forgot to do something?
About an hour later I was shivering with JSL in my room. He just woke up and I had to take his temperature. I went to check the heat since the radiators were ice cold.
55 degrees! Uh, Houston we have a problem! I called TechyDad in a panic. I went downstairs and did not see the pilot light on. He talked to his boss, got permission to come home and help me.
After several attempts to keep the pilot lit, it failed horribly. TechyDad went to Home Depot to pick up a thermal coupler. He had replaced this a little over a year ago, so we tried that. It seemed to work at first, but just before heading back to work he went down to check. Nada was lit again. No heat coming out. *sigh*
At this point, my father came to my rescue and called a Heating/Plumbing place to call me back. They heard we were at 55 degrees with a sick kid and came in less than two hours. To make a long story short – we have heat! The gentleman here also realized the idiots that put in our system (contractor hired them – not us) when we moved in had something that was making us waste money. He fixed that and we handed over a check with heat flowing out of our radiators.
Immediately afterward, I called S. C. BASS Plumbing to thank them for coming so quickly. Then I made an appointment to have our heating system cleaned.
So excuse me now – I am off to enjoy something I took for granted while taking care of my sick little guy.
Yesterday, I wrote the boys a letter for Dear Kid Saturday. In it, I mentioned we played outside in the yard to enjoy the snow. For the life of me, I do not know why we have never done this before. Some of it may have been the old fence pieces, and the tree stump that was finally removed. Whatever it was, I am so glad we did it. Here is another video of NHL and JSL having a blast:
Now I think TechyDad and I need to really contemplate getting rid of the mulberry tree in the back. If that was gone, the boys could use the yard more and not have to worry about berries all over everything during a good portion of the warmer months.
This morning we woke up to more snow. Last time it snowed, it was too cold to stay outside and everyone was pretty sick afterward. Today was the perfect chance to head out and get some playing in.
Most of the snow on the sidewalk out front was already gone, so we had to think about a place to use the sled. Daddy suggested we try the back yard. This is where my apology comes in. For some reason we have NEVER gone to play in the snow back there.
Now, I think we all know that this was a huge mistake. Both of you had an amazing time. You made a sled track, made snow castles, snow cakes, and even tried to make angels. It was so much fun watching you romp, play, laugh, and enjoy the time together.
I brought my camera outside to capture some of the memories. For now I am going to show you one video I took. This video is of NHL being chased by Daddy pulling around JSL. The three of you had a blast romping in the snow:
Thank you both for the magical snow memories. It made all of the shoveling worth the effort to see both of you so happy.
Love,
Mommy
