A Disney Ice Castle

When people think of iconic images from Disney Parks, there are a group that automatically come to mind. Each of the parks has what they call Disney Weenies. Imagineers refer to them by that name. So what are Disney Weenies? They are focal points within the lands of Disney Parks that you can see from a distance and make you want to walk a little bit closer. For Walt Disney World, Cinderella’s Castle just screams out as the magical image that most think of for the Orlando destination. While I have seen Cinderella’s Castle countless times, our most recently trip in December was even more magical. It was the first time I witnessed the ice castle lit up at night. There are no words, simply take in the beauty.

Disney Style Cars

When I think about Disney transportation, my mind immediately goes to The Magical Express, the monorail, Disney buses, and other items that you use around the resorts. I have written about Transportation Disney Style in the past and used some classic images. Another time, I thought a little outside of the box with Different Styles of Disney Transportation. Of course, one of the items we never travel in while visiting Walt Disney World is a car. Disney has magically transformed the images of these vehicles thanks to Lightning McQueen and his buddies from Cars. Thanks to my two boys, I have a lot of Cars items around our house. Back in December, TechyDad and I loved wandering around the Cars section of the new Art of Animation Resort. It was like we were thrust into Radiator Springs, so we took tons of photos for our boys. This week, I am sharing some of my favorite photos of Disney friends from the Cars area.

Disney Style Family Birthdays in August

The month of August is a big month in our family. Yes, there are back-to-back-to-back birthday celebrations in our family during this summer month. Papa’s big day is next Monday and TechyDad just celebrated his birthday on Saturday. While I was expecting NHL, we always assumed he would be born in September. He surprised all of us by coming two weeks early to join the August party parade. Now, ten years later, I am in denial that my oldest will be sporting a two digit number for his age. To help celebrate, I made a collage with all three of the August birthday boys from their last Disney trip with me (NHL/May ‘12 – Papa/May ‘12 – TechyDad/Dec ‘12).

Disney Letter M

When you think of things that start with M from the magical world of Walt Disney, you automatically think of Mickey and Minnie. I wanted to go a bit more outside of the box, though I did include a retro photo of Minnie with me in the mid to late 80s. The phone from Pop Century Resort reminds me of the actual one that my parents had when I was growing up and the others were just really great memories and from our times at Walt Disney World.

Historic Nunley’s Carousel in Long Island

While visiting Long Island to see TechyDad’s parents, we had a few places that we hoped to visit. One of those locations was the Long Island Children’s Museum in Garden City. Thanks to our science museum membership, we were able to go in for free. We had a wonderful time exploring everything within the museum (more on that coming soon). When we were finished, we decided to walk toward the outdoor display at the Long Island Air and Space Museum. It was getting late and we wanted to beat the traffic heading back toward home. As we started walking, I noticed a pathway that lead to a beautiful carousel. Inside the building was Nunley’s Carousel.

Since we were not going to have time to go to another location, we allowed the boys to go for one ride. NHL, JSL, and TechyDad enjoyed their ride. While they were on the horses, I was in charge of the camera and loved watching the details on this historic carousel as it kept going around and around.

Details on the Historic Nunley's Carousel

So my question to you this week is inspired by the carousel that we saw:

If you could make your dream carousel, what would it look like? I’m always curious to know what you could have for people to ride on, what features it would include, and music that would play while riders enjoyed their time on board.
