Journey of The Little Mermaid in New Fantasyland

Growing up, I still remember going to the movies to see The Little Mermaid for the first time. This was the time when classic Disney animated movies were making a major comeback. Little did I know that one day these movies would be a huge part of the expansion of New Fantasyland in Walt Disney World.

When TechyDad and I went to the preview for the Grand Opening of New Fantasyland, we were able to check out Journey of The Little Mermaid several times. It was in the evening, but the glow of the area was amazing and inviting as you walked into the queue.

After winding your way around the queue and checking out all of the details in the area, you are seated in a giant clam shell. This will be your mode of transportation as you enter into the world of Ariel. From here on out, you are a part of her world.

Under the sea in New Fantasyland

As you head under the sea, you are greeted by all of the characters from The Little Mermaid. The vibrant colors, sounds of water, fun scenes, and favorite songs are all there to keep your senses engaged as you continue on your adventure with Ariel.

Of course, Ursula appears and Ariel eventually starts her journey on land where she meets Prince Eric. The level of details and beauty throughout the ride truly are amazing. Disney imaginers have done a magical job bringing Ariel and her world to Walt Disney World in the New Fantasyland area. Adventures with Ariel in New Fantasyland

If you have been on The Journey of The Little Mermaid in New Fantasyland, what is your favorite part of the ride? If you have not been yet, what are you looking forward to viewing in person?

It's Me

Disclosure: TechyDad was invited to the New Fantasyland media event December 5-7. Disney paid for his travel, our park tickets, room, along with some extra surprises. I was his guest and invited to special events, but paid for my travel and an extra night at the resort. Also note that Disney never asked me to blog about this event. As a long time Disney fan, it is my pleasure to share my experiences.

Disney Love is in the Air

Love is in the air thanks to Valentine’s Day this week. This made me think about Disney love that may be obvious, or possibly hidden. Of course, I tossed in a photo of my parents who will be celebrating their 40th Anniversary in just over a month. They are the reason my family has such an enormous love for Disney. The Love is in the Air theme from Focused on the Magic just worked rather nicely this week.

Disney Loving in February

Each month, the Disney Wordless Wednesday has a calendar shot for the first week. Valentine’s Day is huge at Walt Disney World. Back in 2010, we were there the week before and saw how merchandise came alive for the celebration of love. I thought I would make my calendar shot of TechyDad and me from our recent trip with Minnie in her pink outfit by Storybook Circus. The rest are some memories from our chilly February experience back in February 2010.

Long Lost Disney Friends

For 2013, Disney has launched Limited Time Magic where something new and exciting will take place throughout the year. Recently, I watched friends and family members share photographs from their time at Walt Disney World during Long Lost Friends Week.

Although I was not able to make it there to see Flik, Clarabelle Cow, Remy, Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum, and all of the Robin Hood gang, I knew that I had something fitting. Here is a photo from a long lost magical trip to Walt Disney World.

An Old Disney Favorite from 1983

This retro photo from May 1983 is with Tweedle Dum, my little brother, and I am sporting pigtails. We were enjoying the day at the parks. This trip would also be our first chance to see the newly opened Epcot. If you look closely at my brother, he also had a vintage shirt on. Yes, it is for River Country which closed in November 2001.

So many magical memories and a day with a character that is rarely seen.

What is your favorite retro or rarely seen Disney character? I would love to know and hear all about your experience.

Disney Pinterest Pics

There are a lot of people that share Disney photos on their Pinterest account, not just blog posts. I am not really one of those people. I have my Disney Life for Me board, but it is filled with posts about Disney from others and also has some of my own. Even before Pinterest was popular, I loved making fun collages and/or adding captions to my photos. Pinterest has just made it more of a hobby so I can make sure there is an item to be pinned on each post. This week, we were asked to share some of our Pinterest photos for the Focused on the Magic theme. You can also click on the picture and it will take you to the blog post it came from (a magical bonus).
