No More Kiddo Belt Blues Thanks to Dapper Snappers

Have you ever tried to find a belt for a young child? We have had to do this many times. If you can find kids belts, there are very few to pick from. Typically, the ones that are available are tough even for an adult to use. Imagine how this will work with a toddler that is recently potty trained? It is an accident just waiting to happen.

A while ago, I heard about a product called Dapper Snappers that helps to solve the kids belt dilemma. I was very intrigued about it. It seemed like a great product to assist my newly potty trained three year old, along with my older son that has some fine motor trouble with belt buckles. Thanks to Family Review Network, I recently had the opportunity to test out one of their boys belts.

More About the Dapper Snapper:

The best way to understand Dapper Snappers is to see one in action. Here is their video showing how to use this product:

As you can see, the Dapper Snapper attaches to the back of pants, so children will not have another item to contend with when nature calls. Even if pants do not have belt loops, there are Dapper Snapper Clips that help to alleviate droopy drawers. Some additional facts:DapperSnapperPackage

What We Thought:

The other day, JSL (3) came running across the house and nearly tripped over his own two feet. TechyDad noticed that his pants were around his ankles. When I went to take a closer look, I saw his underpants. These nice pants, that had once been NHL’s, were not going to work. Normally when that happens, I change to another pair since we can not use a kids belt with him. He is too little to maneuver them on his own, and they really don’t make many.

This time I had another choice. Two days earlier, my complimentary review sample from Dapper Snappers arrived. I barely managed to hold JSL still long enough to snap a before and after photo. He’s a three year old that is constantly on the go and not into photos these days.

Dapper Snappers in Action

For the rest of the day, we never had any issues with JSL’s pants. He was able to use the facilities without a problem. We pretty much forgot that the Dapper Snappers were there until the end of the day (not a bad thing mind you). I seriously wish that I had purchased some Dapper Snappers when they first came out and I heard about them. They would have been fabulous to use when NHL was receiving occupational therapy. Oh well, at least we have them now to help with the little guy when we need them to give more life to a pair of otherwise too baggy pants.

Thank you Dapper Snappers for helping to cure the droopy drawers within our lives!

Holiday shopping with Aurora Gifts

One of the great parts about blogging is learning about products that may be new to you. Prior to last year, I was not very familiar with Aurora Gifts and their line of kids toys and stuffed friends. Over the summer, we participated in a study about some of their new YooHoo & Friends and the website that goes along with them for children. It was a fun experience and the boys enjoyed playing with their new YooHoo & Friends critters. Of course, now when I am out and about I often see YooHoo & Friends in stores, along with other Aurora products.

Recently, I was contacted by a PR representative from Aurora to see if I was interested in reviewing some of their new items that are available this holdiday season. Each of them are sold for under $20 each. Since my kids enjoyed the previous experience with Aurora items, I said we would love to.

These are the items that arrived at our house:

Items from Aurora Gifts

More about the items we received from Aurora:

8" Large Lemmee Punk Rocker from the "Retro" YooHoo & Friends line.

Retro YooHoo & Friends

Aurora’s international toy phenomenon YooHoo & Friends™ aims to please kids and collectors with the release of uber-hip YooHoo & Friends dressed in 60s, 70s and 80s retro styles. The collection is fashioned after some of the most famous pop culture icons of those decades (think Elvis, Madonna, Travolta from Saturday Night Fever etc.). The medium sized, five inch “retro” YooHoo & Friends are available in seven styles including 70s Love, Punk Rocker, Pop Singer, Vegas, Flash Dancer, British Rocker and Disco Dancer. The larger, eight inch versions include Punk Rocker, 70s Love, Flash Dancer and Pop Singer. Both sizes make sounds when squeezed (MSRP: medium-$8.99, large-$14.99).

YooHoo & Friends™ created the corresponding interactive website www.yoohoofriends.com, so kids and their parents can learn more about the animals (many endangered) and their natural habitats. Membership is free. On the site, visitors can play scores of games, download desktop backgrounds and coloring sheets, send e-cards, raise their own YooHoo & Friends character and much more. YooHoo & Friends is on Facebook (http://facebook.com/yoohoofanpage) and Twitter: @yoohoofriends.

10" Lea Lamb from the Dreamy Eyes collection.

Dreamy Eyes Lamb

Dreamy Eyes™ feature loveable expressions, big eyes and appealing cuddle material that just melts in your hands. 13 brand new styles include tiger, pony, pig, cow, lion, elephant, monkey, giraffe, cat, pug, Chihuahua, frog and lamb (10”, bean filled; MSRP: $12.99). Perfect for ages two and up!

8" Milly Wanna Be Princess and 8" Pink Kitty with Chocolate Carrier from the Milly Collection.

The many faces of Milly

Milly WannaBes (8", MSRP: $10.99) are dressed as princess, ballerina or fairy. For girls three to seven who love playing pretend and dress up and aspire to be princesses, ballerinas and fairies.

Aurora’s plush toy pet carriers have been one of the company’s best sellers for over five years. Now Aurora has introduced a line of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry scented carriers with Milly. Milly Cupcake Carriers (MSRP: $13.99) include a removable eight-inch Milly plush animal (Mini-Flopsie) and for the first time, Aurora’s plush carriers are marked with scents lasting approximately six months (the carriers range in size from six to eight inches).

Aurora also has Paws Puppets, Aurora – Fancy Pals – The Original Toy Pet Carriers, and Cheeky Charlie & Carmen available on their websiteand retail stores this holiday season and beyond.

What we thought:

When the box arrived the other day, TechyDad told me that it said Aurora outside. I knew it was for the kids, but had no idea what would be inside – it was a surprise. The kids quickly surrounded us as we opened the boys. NHL and JSL immediately started to plot which was for each of them and stated that the pink ones were for Cousin SG. What I did not expect was them to argue over the the Retro YooHoo & Friends guy. I kid you not, to this day they both insist that it is theirs and demand me to agree. Why you ask? Well, they both love the guitar on it and laugh at the whistle call that it makes when you squeeze the tummy. For now, custody of Lemee is mine and I allow the boys visitation rights so they can rock out with him.

The kids thought that the Dreamy Eyes was adorable and wanted to see how soft it was. We were all pleasantly surprised with just how soft it and could see this becoming a child’s favorite to cuddle with. Because of the big eyes, it is not for children under 2. It would be a great addition to stuffed friends for the toddler/preschool set.

Both of the pink Milly plushes are absolutely adorable. I am sure my niece is going to adore them when we give them to her at Thanksgiving for an early Chanukah present. SG loves kittens, princesses, and cupcakes – so there is no doubt that my three year old niece will be in love. I know that if I was teaching, the cupcake Milly would be going with me to a desk to make a cute decoration.

Stay tuned, something fun for my readers will be coming soon thanks to Aurora.

An angel and books Pandora style

Last December, my mother asked me to figure out what I would like for my Birthday. I am horrible at putting myself first and coming up with ideas of things that I would like. You see, this was not just a gift for last year, it was also for the year before that. Finally, I decided that I would really like to look at Pandora bracelets. I really liked the idea of making a bracelet that had beads that were filled with memories.

This is what my bracelet looked like when I originally received it.

My Pandora bracelet

I have the two boys and a Murano glass bead that looks like each birthstone. A week or so after this, TechyDad bought me the forget me-knot bead to symbolize our marriage.

Just after that, I received a gift certificate to Pandora from my Aunt S and Uncle M. I knew that I wanted to get the angel charm, but also wanted to get one to represent TechyDad. Sad to say that Pandora has nothing technology based. So I waited to see if anything new and perfect would come along.

Pandora mentioned new beads several times, but nothing really perfect came along. Last night, I decided to go to the local Pandora store with my mother to see what new beads they had. I really wanted to use my gift certificate before I accidentally misplaced it. There were two beads that immediately caught my eye. I quickly decided to go for it. Here is a look at my Pandora bracelet with the two new additions.

Bracelet gets new additions

I went with the angel thanks to The Angel Forever. The book symbolizes being a teacher and having my Masters Degree in Reading. Of course, I have my eye on a few other great beads, but still looking for just the right one that represents TechyDad. Now if only Pandora would team up with Think Geek. A girl can dream right?

Wandering NYC and better NY State license plates

On Friday, I wrote about the ugly new license plates in New York State. If you missed that post, you need to check out how far we came over my lifetime, only to go back 10-15 steps. Ugh!

While in NYC for BlogHer, TechyDad and I opted to walk around the streets by the Hilton for a little while. Please note, we were so close to everything it was amazing. We walked a block over to Broadway. First, we saw this:

P1310154

We opted not to have pizza there and continued to walk down. . .

Broadway in NYC Baby!

I drooled and wished that we had tickets to see this:

Want to see this SO bad

Sad to say, we did not get to see that or the following:

This Mama would have loved to see this

We kept walking down and saw marque after marque of plays we would not get to see along with other interesting signs. Then we went into the Hershey Store for a few minutes.

More sights along Broadway in NYC

There was a lot to see, but it was nothing like their home store in Hershey, PA.

Hershey Store NYC

Across the street was another chocolatey retail wonder. Here is the sign as it changed outside:

M&M NYC

We had to go inside to wander around the three stories to compare it to the Las Vegas store. Not quite as much, but my oh my a lot of M&M packed into one NYC store!

M&M items galore

While there, we saw the solution to the UGLY new New York State license plates. Here they are:

Should be our new plates

After this, we went back toward the Hilton and stopped by Ray’s Pizza for some slices to go. We wandered back around the corner to the Hilton and went back to the 31st floor to inhale, and relax before day 2 of BlogHer.

REAL NY pizza time

More on BlogHer10 coming soon.
