Down for the count

Yesterday it was my turn to have the stomach bug bite me. For those keeping tabs, that would be 2 of the 4 of us that have been hit and I fear for hubby and especially the little guy.

It really got a hold of me and does not want to let go. When I got up in the morning it was bad, but it was nothing compared to what came later. Later in the day a fever joined to add some fun. As the afternoon arrived I knew there was no way that I could drive to get the kindergarten kid from school. Driving while curled up in fetal position, shaking from chills, and burning up from a fever does not work. Thankfully the little guy was good and played nicely while I rested and my father saved the day. Papa was able to pick NHL up from school.

When hubby arrived home from work it was my cue to collapse on the bed. I barely moved most of the evening and only recall a few screams from the kids as they were unhappy with meal choices from Dad. At 10:00 my temperature was 101.5 and I managed to get some more ibuprofen to lull me back to sleep.

This morning I am able to move around more than yesterday, but still feel like my batteries are completely drained. Clearly I will not be the Energizer Bunny today! Still, life as Mom must continue to move on. While attempting to eat something this morning hubby notified me that he had no dress shirts for work. I asked why he never said anything yesterday. Apparently he did, but I was a little preoccupied with not being volcanic like a certain kindergarten kid was on Sunday.

So any guess what I am attempting to do now?

Laundry of course!      (please note the extreme sarcasm)

There is a wash in right now. With any luck, I will be able to finish it and possibly another, assuming I am not down for the count again later today.

Phone calls from school are NEVER good

*Sigh*

At 12:40 I was heading out of the house with JSL to pick NHL up. As we were walking out the door my cell phone was ringing and it was his teacher. She said he had a splinter in his leg. So JSL and I went and found hysterical NHL there unable to walk or sit. We took him to the library since she said I needed to pull down his pants.

We got there and I was NOT ready for what I found. Staring me in the face was a 3 inch piece of wood basically sticking out of my son’s rear end!!!!  He couldn’t sit obviously, but even walking was an issue. The wood was stuck right in the crease of the leg where it meets your butt cheek.

I took a deep breath and grabbed the wood and yanked it out. NHL was flipping out, for obvious reasons. His teacher then went to get an alcohol wipe and band-aid since it was bleeding.

I looked at it again now and am not able to tell if more is under the skin. It is so swollen and red from the puncture. JL called the doctor for instructions on what to do this weekend.

There are no photos of it until we got home, but I did take them because it was HUGE. I still do not understand how there is nothing on the pants.

This is a close up of the charming item:

 Can you say ouch?

Here are two that put the size in perspective:

Oy vey seems about all I can say.

Eeeeeek . . . .

For those of you that know me, picture me in the kitchen with JL. I was about to get some water and hear JL jump back and say "AHHH!"

Before I could think about what I was doing, I jumped up on the step stool and shouted "Eeeeeeeek!" I just knew what he had seen.

I scared JL and he then told me that he had seen a centipede, but it wasn’t on the floor like I assumed. The darn thing ran under the microwave on the counter. GRRRRRRR!!!!!

And I admit it, it took me a little while to get off the step stool. I immediately went to get shoes on. I am so sick of these huge centipedes. STAY IN THE BASEMENT!!!!
