Another round of thanks!

Almost a month ago I posted a large group of thank you’s to people for giveaways that I had won. Since that time two additional items have arrived that I need to send some linky love out. Plus there are fun photos to share.

Way back in early December Mommy Cracked had a contest leading up to Christmas. She had a bunch of different giveaways. I won the one that she had for Baby Kay’s Boutique for a custom made hooded towel. The ones that were on Baby Kay’s Boutique on Etsy at the time were gorgeous. I kept forgetting to let the owner of Baby Kay’s know what I wanted (too many things to select from since she was willing to create anything). Finally we figured things out and it was done. Within a day or two she e-mailed me and said it was being shipping. The towel with an adorable giraffe on it arrived yesterday. Please check out Baby Kay’s Etsy store (she continues to add more to her store) and also Mommy Cracked (hilarious blogger who is currently very under the weather – feel better). NHL loved the towel and wanted to model it for my photo. Thanks again to both involved in the wonderful giveaway!

At the beginning of January I won a giveaway from Angela on Seven Dogs and a Baby. She was hosting a contest to win a Whomi Clarity agenda. It arrived a week or so ago and I just took photos. It really is neat looking for families with lots of appointments, after school activities and things like that. I have to get some time to fill it in and put it in the diaper bag to have on the go. Thanks again Angela for all of your wonderful giveaways!

Whomi Clarity won

This morning I found out that I won prize. . . more details to come soon. I am also working on another giveaway of my own with a small business. Just working out the details and will post soon.

Giveaway Time –> Happy Blogoversary to Moi!!!

Welcome Bloggy Giveaway participants and everyone else!   (Details of my giveaway below)

February 4th marks my 1 year Blogoversary! It is hard to believe that a year has passed since I became sucked in  addicted  welcomed to the wonderful and wacky word of blogging. So much has changed during this year. I am no longer teaching, I am a stay at home Mommy to my two little boys (NHL 4 and JSL 8 months). This has changed my life the most. I am not stressed like I was a year ago (the stress is just different now). I have time to spend with my boys and I enjoy doing things that I want instead of lesson planning and correcting papers in my spare moments outside of school. I do miss the kids and my fellow teachers, but at this point in my life this is where I need to be – with my husband and two boys.

I am going to take a minute to thank some important people. Please excuse me if I forget someone, it is not intentional. Very little sleep this weekend can cloud my memory banks –> teething is EVIL I tell you!

  • Laura – thank you for helping me to set up my original LJ blog. I kept reading yours and wanted to try something to release my stress from life at that time. So now you are technically to blame for the blogging addiction and the renewed knitting fascination.
  • My Porkloving Cousin – you may not know this, but you were a HUGE inspiration. I used to squeal when I would read your latest entries. I can not wait to read the book that you author  someday. I expect an autographed copy when it comes out – do not forget that!
  • JL – my husband and webmaster all in one! Thank you for putting up with my blogging craziness. It is too funny how we now look at each other when something happens and say "BLOG!" I love you and am so thrilled you made me jump ship from LJ to my own special place. I owe you big time — *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*
  • All of my S3Mommy, May07 and Local Mommy Group friends with blogs (Sandy, Nancy, Renee, Kmelion and others) – You read, you commented, you helped me to explore my writing style. . .  you are the best!
  • Kim – Thank you for introducing me to the Swaparooni group. What fun I have had with this amazing Flickr group thanks to you telling everyone all about it.
  • Mrs. OMSH – the founder of the Swaparooni group who helped me to make some amazing bloggy people (CityStreams, Airing My Dirty Laundry, Coolbeans, Bethany Actually, SAJ, Dutchblitz and so many others). Heather, you have inspired me with your fun, fresh and real blog to be myself and let my sarcastic and fun side show. Plus I have to include lots of photos of my kids and things. Thank you for being an inspiration. You and Jessica are two of my mentors (there are others too – so no hard feelings for not mentioning all of you now).
  • My boys – for giving me things to write about, photos to take and being super cute subjects for Mommy to use on her blog.

Why I am hosting a Giveaway:

While roaming around the Blogosphere I have found so many other blogs that I try to read daily (thank you Google Reader). There are too many to mention here and I am  working on a new blogroll to give everyone some linky love. One of these blogs is Rocks In My Dryer. Shannon has another blog that showcases giveaways – perfectly titled Bloggy Giveaways. This fall she helped to arrange the Fall Y’All for people. This week she is organizing a Bloggy Giveaway Carnival. The timing is perfect with my Blogoversary so I am joining in with my first giveaway!!!!

My Giveaway Details:

I decided to put together a cute package to help busy people to have things on hand for when they actually need to write and not e-mail someone. Yes, some of us still do that from time to time! So without further babbling, here is a photo of my goodies:

Things for my 1st Bloggy Giveaway

Included: (1) A sheet of custom made address labels. I will put whatever you would like on them – you do not have to use Blue the dog.  (2) A package of 10 blank note cards   (3) A little memo pad with a pen (perfect for keeping in a diaper bag or purse to capture bloggable moments).   (4) Magnetic Listpad  (5) Gold and Silver metallic gel pens.   (6) Valentine froggy magnet   (7) $5.00 gift card for Target to get a little something special for you.   Other surprises may get tossed in along with these, but these are definite.

Now for some rules/details of the giveaway (this is the teacher in me doing this):

  • To enter all you need to do is leave a comment. Only one comment per person and please tell me something about yourself. Do you blog? If you do. . . why did you begin? If you are not a blogger – why not? Come on you know you want to blog – see peer pressure exists even in the Blogosphere!
  • Any duplicate entries will be deleted and not eligible.
  • Please be sure to leave your e-mail address and/or blog so I can contact you for your information when you win.
  • A winner will be randomly selected from all of the comments by Random.org (no trees will be killed in the making of this giveaway).
  • Entries will be accepted until Midnight EST on Saturday, February 2, 2008. I will announce the winner here and post it on Shannon’s website during the day on Sunday, February 3, 2008 (the day before my 1st Blogoversary).
  • Unfortunately, due to being a SAHM and living on a budget, I must limit entries to people who are living in the United States and Canada only. Sorry to my other international friends, but man shipping charges are just crazy these days.

With that I hope you enjoy this and look forward to meeting new friends out there in this fun filled Bloggy world that we live in.

Night out with our big boy

Last night I went out on a date with my two oldest boys . . . you know my hubby and 4 year old. The little guys stayed with Nana and Papa so we could do something special with the big boy.

We let NHL decide where he wanted to go for dinner. I told him about a new place that we had never been to that had a place to play games near it. He liked the sound of that since there were no costumes.  Once JL was home we dropped JSL off and went to Old Chicago for dinner.

We had a nice relaxing dinner that involved trying to keep NHL from falling asleep. We managed by taking him to the game room to see what we would do after he ate his dinner. This helped since he saw there was a bowling game that he was anxious to try out. Our meal was good, but not something I would likely go back to soon (although I do want to try their lunch special one day).

After our meal was done NHL quickly pulled us to the game room. We bought a card with points on it to play. As you will see NHL really liked the bowling. It was sort of like candlestick bowling (small balls), but regular scoring, and only 5 frames. Here are some photos of the little guy testing out the game.

Night out with our big guy

It was so cute to watch NHL grab JL’s hand the first few times he was playing (by the third game later on he was a pro).

Checking out the bowling alley

At first he wanted to roll the ball down by putting it between his legs this way (front view):

Don't you love his technique?!?!

It worked nicely this way (front view below), but later he realized that with the balls being small he could toss them other ways.

And the ball begins it's journey

Too bad he never really liked it.

One excited little boy!

The suspense was just too much while waiting for the ball to head down the alley and knock over pins.

Watching to see the results

He even tried to yell persuade the ball to move in another direction.

No, go that way!

Oh well, maybe next time it will work!

Hmmm. . . what did you say?

Each time he would check and count to see how many were knocked over.

Making sure how many were knocked over.

And this pose just made me laugh. Cute, n’est pas?!?!

He really started to get into this

We had a great time and went to pick up JSL afterward. He was very happy to see his milk jugs mommy. . . daddy and big brother too. Thanks again to Nana and Papa for making this fun evening possible. Love you guys!

More goodies to say thank you for

The other day I received an e-mail from Braincandy telling me that I was the lucky winner of the Boston Mamas contest for all of their 5 Senses DVDs – Bundle of Joy.  I entered this contest in November, so it was a very nice surprise to get the news. Within the e-mail it mentioned that I was one of five winners randomly selected from over 200 entries!

Today the following arrived:

Braincandy prize

The boys and I can not wait to open these up and check them out.

Other contest news from the last few months and linky love:

So sorry that I was slacking on thanking everyone for some other items that I won. Here are a few that come to mind now:

–> A pedometer from Laura Williams  Thank you so much!

–> A Happi Tummi from Boston Mamas came just in time to help JSL with his tummy woes.

–> A Curious George Wikki Stick book from My Two Boys.  NHL loves this and thought it was such a fun Chanukah gift. Little does he know it is therapy.

–> A Puj Go Sling from mod*mom   A gorgeous sling that I may give/loan to someone that isn’t quite as endowed to try (unless my boobs shrink with this round of WW like it did last time).

–> The book "Can I Have a Cell Phone for Hanukkah?" by Sharon Duke Estroff, M.A.T. from The Mommy Spot   – A hilarious book that I am still reading.

I hope I did not forget anything. I swear this mommy brain this is the pits. Again thank you so much to everyone for all of the goodies.

Bithday party fun & future request

Saturday morning NHL was invited to a birthday party for one of his classmates. The party was going to be at a local place that is similar to Chuck E Cheese. He had not been there in over 2 years when Laura had her son’s party there. On that day he was very overwhelmed by the place. Thanks to this we were a bit afraid of how he would react. We made sure to talk very positively about the place and let him no that there would NOT be a costume (please see recent Chuck E Cheese "fun" here and here).

Wow, were we surprised! From the moment he walked into the place he was ready to go. He was so excited to go on all of the rides (except the roller coaster), climb with Daddy, and play games. It was funny watching NHL grabbing his friend to go on everything with him. He also proved that he is my boy. He loved the fast moving ride that went forward and then backward. The party included unlimited rides for two hours, 50 game points, and one of the extra exhibits (NHL wanted to feed the "parrots"). Here are some photos from the fun:

Birthday party fun

The real test of the day came when we had to try to remove him from the party. He did not want to leave after almost three hours. NHL has also asked to go back with us and has requested to have his 5th birthday party at this location as well. I guess we need to start thinking about this even though it is seven months away!
