June fun in the mail

Over the last few weeks I have received some fun packages in the mail. NHL always gets so excited to see what I have received. No matter what it is he is always happy to help me open up and see what is inside.

All of the following were items that I won in giveaways on blogs.

Thank you to 5 Minutes for Mom for the fun Alvin and the Chipmunks package. I won their giveaway for the CD and DVD from the newly released movie. JL and I laughed when we heard the Chipmunks singing Bad Day. Thanks to the great weather NHL has not had a moment to sit and watch the movie, but we will on the next rainy family fun day.

A package with a Baggu arrived courtesy of Cool Mom Picks. I absolutely LOVE this bag. The neat little sack that it comes in is wonderful. I keep it in my purse and have already used it for my bargain shopping at CVS several times. Several people have asked what it was since they were shocked such a large bag came out of the little sack in my purse. Thank you again Cool Mom Picks and Baggu!

As many of you know I love the band Barenaked Ladies (BNL). Not too long ago I found out that they actually made a CD for children. It is amazing and I was lucky enough to win a copy of it, along with the book from The ‘lil mommy that could. NHL was fascinated with the illustrations in the book and he an JSL both loved dancing to the music. This will quickly become a family favorite – way to go BNL for a family friendly CD! A special thank you to Lil Mommy for the fun giveaway.

Just yesterday a sweet little package arrived in the mail from CanCan of My Greening: Going Green. I love to knit, but I am forever afraid to branch out into more challenging items. CanCan was giving away a knitted gnome from Green Mountain Wee Woolies. When I went to their Etsy shop I was floored with the gorgeous creations. Now I know I should just keep knitting what I do and let the pros do these items. Thank you so much for the adorable gnome and surprise baby in the sling!

A HOT HOT summer ahead

It technically is not summer yet, but you would not know that looking at the scorching temperatures up and down the eastcoast of the US. We are in the middle of a hot, humid and nasty heat wave. Yes, the temperature here is 94+ today (heat index of over 100) and this is the third day of 90+ degree heat. I do not know what we would do if we did not have our window AC units. They have done a decent job getting the humidity out of the main living section of our house. The upstairs room needs the AC unit put in still and is beyond sauna state.

In just a few short days NHL will be done with nursery school and getting ready to head to kindergarten this fall (still in denial about that). I have started to gather ideas and things to do with the boys that are inexpensive and do not involve much driving since gas is well over $4.00 a gallon here.

Get Snow & Give Thanks

Please note that the getting snow and giving thanks have NADA to do with one another. Sure I may have the flu and have been stuck at home with a sick child all week, but I am not that delusional!

Now that that is cleared up here are some photos from outside just minutes ago.

it is SPRING!!!!

Clearly someone did NOT get the memo that it is SPRING already. Hello – stop with the cold, snow, ice, and other non-spring precipitation and weather patterns. Sickies are done with this garbage and have put it out on the curb with the rest of the trash that went out last night.

Thanks for letting me vent!

Now onto the good stuff. I would like to send out some thanks for some packages that arrived here this week from giveaways that I won.

I won this from Candi at ~~All Day Night~~ as her entry in the Ultimate Blog Party. Thank you so much Candi – I love it and it will come in handy in my diaper bag for emergency Mommy situations! The Ultimate Blog Party was so much fun. I was lucky enough to find Candi’s blog and am now a daily reader. She is the Mommy of two little boys who are very close in age to my little guys. Stop over and say hello to Candi when you have some time.

Yesterday as the boys were getting antsy another package came. Inside was my giveaway from Momsational: I had won a set of fair trade Peruvian Finger Puppets from Inca Kids. They are absolutely amazing. I can not believe that people and not machines knitted these little guys. Here are a few photos so you can check them out.
