Blogging Conference in July

If you have been following my Tweets recently, you may have noticed that @CutestKidEver and I are up to something. The two of us have been working on a big project for quite a while now. We figured that it was time to have a blogging conference in the Northeast. Sure, BlogHer is in NYC this year, but typically it moves from place to place. We wanted to offer something that would be easier for people that lived within our region of the country to have a chance at something in driving distance. In addition to this, Christina and I wanted it to be budget friendly for people further away to come.

We have visited a few venues for the event and are pretty close to making a final decision. Things have been hushed to this point because we are still ironing out the details. My question to you this week:

Would you be interested in a blogging conference in July? Let us know things you would like included in a conference.

At this point, we believe we are talking about July 9-11 and it would be in the area close to the Albany Airport in New York State. We are working on a package deal that would include lodging, meals and the conference itself. Transportation would be the only additional item you would need. Many items are in swing in this area during the summer, so you could even make a mini-family vacation to locations like Saratoga, Lake George and beyond! So excited to finally let the cat partially out of the bag. I hope to see you this summer!

Please be sure to check out my  mirra products, Cook’s Ham $30 for Easter, and Dove Men+Care giveaways. Stay tuned because more will be coming very soon.

Blogging conferences and events

Over the last few months I have been to two blogger events and hope to go to more in the future. As I mentioned Wednesday (before our websites went belly up again for 24+ hours), I went to a Cook’s Ham event held by Price Chopper Supermarkets on Tuesday. Going to something like this is exciting because I not only learn about new and exciting items, but I meet fabulous new people. I thought I would take some time to give some linky love to my fellow bloggers that were included in the event. Here is a photo of all of us courtesy of Sandra from Albany Kid.

Ladies, it was a pleasure meeting all of you and I hope we are able to connect again in the future. If you post more about the Cook’s Ham event please let me know and I will link up.

So my question to you this week:

Have you met other bloggers at a meet up/event? If you have who are they? Please feel free to do some shout outs and leave some linky love for them. I would love to meet new people online as well.

Please be sure to check out my Betty Crocker, National Geographic Kids and mirra giveaways. Stay tuned because a Cook’s Ham one will be coming very soon.

Coming out of my bloggy shell

For three years, I have been blogging and never actually stated where I live. This has partially been to protect my children/family. Plus, I’ll be honest, I never really felt the need to come out and say it. Could someone figure it out? No doubt people probably could have narrowed down the part of the country and possibly the state from photos of snow, places we go and so on.

Recently, things have been cropping up that have made me change my tune. The Disney Social Media Moms Celebration got my real name out there. In addition to this, local opportunities have come up and some big plans/projects are in the works. If I do not let places know about my three years of blogging history, it pretty much defeats the purpose of my hard work over the years. Of course, anyone really close to me knew who I was from the start. Will I have my full name on The Angel Forever? Not yet. Again, no real need for that. People that need to know will continue to get that information.

Coming out of my bloggy shell

Of course, the timing on this is really good. Recent events in my home state of New York have gotten me very angry. Born and raised in New York, it absolutely disgusts me when I watch the news and see how things are falling apart. Up until now I have stayed quiet about news events, but thanks to coming out of my bloggy shell I can vent, collaborate and work with others to see what more I can do via my blog and beyond.

Right now, my brain is in hyper mode. A recent PTA meeting at my son’s school has me disgusted. Budget cuts, broken political promises and powers that be who do not see how their actions will kill our schools. Ultimately, our children are the ones that will pay the price. You know, the children that are the future of not only New York State, but our country and world.

*sigh*  This is a topic that I will definitely be addressing another day. I will be looking to others for advice on where to go with the people from our school, to fight long and hard to save teachers, nurses, art/music and most importantly our school that may be on the chopping block.

So my question to you this week:

If you blog did you come out of your bloggy shell and tell people where you live and why did you this? If you always were upfront did you have any negative experiences with this?

Silly moment of the week

On Wednesday, both of the boys were home with me. Thanks to Mother Nature reminding us that we live in snow country, we received about a foot of snow in less than 24 hours.

A snowy winter day

At one point, I went outside to shovel and came back inside to check on the kids. They were sitting on the couch watching a movie. Something caught my eye. It was two year old JSL sitting with no socks on. Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with this during the warm months, but in our 63 degree house this is a little cold. Of course, he is two and it was not simply left at that. he sat there dancing around with his socks now on each of his hands.

Since I was soaked from being outside in the heavy and wet snow, I was not able to grab my camera. No worries, on Thursday JSL repeated his silly performance. Here are a few shots of my silly little guy.

Note the little tootsies out of their warm socks:

Brrrr. . . makes me cold looking at them

He really was hamming it up for the camera as you will see here:

Playing for the camera

Of course, with this little smile it is hard to be upset with him for taking his socks off in the cool house.

The smile of a toddler

So my question for you this week:

Think back about the last week. What is a silly/funny moment that stands out in your mind?

New found flying fears

I have a confession to make. . .

Up, up and away

In recent years, I have started to fear flying in airplanes. I think it started after our trip to Disney World in May and intensified when we flew to, and especially from, the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration.

On our way home from Disney World in May, we had a rocky landing. Turbulence was bad through most of the flight. My stomach sunk down to my feet many times. As someone that likes wild rides, this hit me hard. Never before did I feel each and every move of the plane like I did on that flight. I never said anything about my fears because I did not want my boys to hear anything.

Leading up to our trip to the conference, I started to have nightmares about flying. It worried me that it may be trying to tell me something given the huge storm we had to fly around/through/over. I ignored them and we flew down to Disney on the 6th. That flight was pretty uneventful. I kept busy sitting with NHL. We looked out the window and wrote stories together.

On the plane to see Mickey Mouse

Coming home, I sat with JSL. He did not want to do much aside from look at books and rest on me. My mind was able to think about every move that I felt the plane make. As we were about 30 miles out from home, it got really rocky thanks to the strong winds (darn winter flying). The plane moved up and down, left and right over and over again. It was worse than any ride we had done at Disney World. Perhaps it was sitting in the last row, but it scared the you know what out of me!

Once we got off the plane, I was SO happy to be back on the ground. I am so glad that we can take the train to BlogHer and not worry about air travel for a little while. So my question to you this week:

Do you like to travel by airplane?  Either way, what do you do to keep your mind off of things once you are up in the air?
