Growing up Jewish in a predominantly Christian society can be tough on a child. For most of the fall months into December, most of world is dressed up and ready to celebrate Christmas.
As a child growing up in the 80’s, living in a moderate Jewish community, we had few items to really decorate for Chanukah. There was only a small store in our synagogue with some merchandise in it. As the years went by, more main stream stores started to carry a few Chanukah items here and there. They would all pretty much have the same few token tchotchkes. Plastic dreidels, cheap looking menorahs and some window clings were available.
In more recent years, people have started businesses online to help keep traditions alive, add modern touches and provide fun for Jewish families. One of these online stores is PopJudaica.com
Last year, post Chanukah, I found PopJudaica.com. I oogled at numerous items and thought about different family members to purchase things for.
The Plush Menorah would be perfect for the little guy. He would be able to safely light his own menorah along with us.
The Got Latkes? apron would be perfect for almost any of the women (or men – like my hubby) who prepare the tasty traditional Chanukah food.
NHL loves to wear his kippahs to Hebrew School. The Kroc Kippah would be a fun way for him to personalize it on his own.
Of course for my brother, a recreational poker player, the Poker Yarmulke would be a perfect choice.
Seriously if you are Jewish, know someone who is, or want to learn more about another religion PopJudaica.com is a wonderful source for goodies galore.
The Giveaway:
The founder of PopJudaica.com has offered my readers the opportunity to win their own No Limit Texas Dreidel Game. This game would be enjoyed by both kids and adults, so it would be fabulous for family game nights. It puts a modern spin on a traditional holiday game for everyone of all religions to enjoy.

Have fun and thanks for participating in my Chanukah!
Oh man there’s so many good choices! The Tush pants would be cute for Sarah, the soft Chanukkah menorah is great, and the Nice Jewish Boys calendar I’d probably send to my brother or a friend, lol
Wow, with that poker kippah, Brian may decide to get his own yarmulke after all…too cool!!!!
Cool, love the Menorah Blahnik cards so cute :)
I’ve bent your ear via email about my whole Christian/wanna-be Jewish struggle/saga, so seeing all of the cool stuff on popjudaica.com made it almost impossible to pick just 3 favorites :)
Definitely the Jewish fortune cookies (how fun!), the Oy Vey Tshirt (since I say that ALL the time), and it’s a toss-up between the yiddish phrase travel bag and the schlep tote bag–schlep is another word in my daily vocabulary!
How fun!
I absolutely love the menorah. My daughter has been asking for one, even though we are not Jewish. :) I also like the dreidel game and the apron.
I like the apron, the croc kippah (could totaly see these catching on at Hebrew school) and I could really use that wax-off stuff for my many menorot (pl. of menorahs?)
Who doesn’t need the Wax-off? Where has that been all my life??? I also like the Hip Kosher cookbook and the Kosher by Design entertaining book. I just found your site today and love it!
What a fantastic contest!! I think my twins would love both of the Dr. Seuss books in Yiddish (The Cat in the Hat and One Fish, Two Fish) and the Chanukah cookie making kit. I, of course, would be so thrilled to have the wax off!! What a great idea!

First off -totally love that store! Well, for a household with a Jewish father and a Christian mother, I picked out three favorite items that may help me learn and incorporate more into our lives: Chrismukkah cookbook, holiday cookie cutters, and the Yiddish word magnets. (My husband uses Yiddish words frequently and, although I’m learning, I would like to learn more and impress him!)
Definitely the Dreidel game. I also like the beeswax candles for my own menorahs. It’s impossible to pass on the Oy Vey T-Shirt.
You are already on my blogroll.
Also subscribed by way of my Google Reader and Technorati.
