My question this week is inspired by my desire to travel to my favorite place.

Where did you go on your honeymoon? If you are not married yet, where is your dream honeymoon destination?

JL and I went to Disney World on our honeymoon. We spent ten amazing days there. Prior to going we had made booked special tours/programs and made dinner reservations at restaurants that we wanted to go to. The trip was amazing and like no other visit to Disney. It was the first without my family and likely our only trip without kids for years to come. It has been seven years since our honeymoon and I am itching to head back to Disney World soon. Eeyore needs a visit from me.

We went to Cancun and stayed in an All-You-Can-Eat Resort. You know, one where everything is already paid for. And there was a jacuzzi in the room. Pretty awesome. Of course the water came out brown, but we didn’t care.

Also, no one told us that it was a “topless” beach. We went for a romantic stroll and there were all these four hundred pound women with nipples the size of coasters sitting around on lounge chairs. Yikes! We only did that once.

Maui for 5 days (Mike had the flu and was a trooper, even when I suggested getting up at 2AM for a sunrise bike trip down Haleakala–which I just butchered the spelling of btw), and then 3 days in Eugene, OR for the Oregon-Oregon State football game (which is called the Civil War for anyone who’s interested and not up on football rivalries). College football game on my honeymoon? I am the best. wife. ever.

Just between you, me, and the internet, I think we had more fun in Oregon. Despite our lost luggage and having to buy clothes for the day at the TJ Maxx by our hotel AFTER spending the night in the San Francisco airport. Despite the cold and the rain that just doesn’t ever seem to fully stop. Maybe it had something to do with Mike hitting for $700 on a state lottery-run video poker machine at a microbrewery the night before we headed back to Pittsburgh . . .

    Is this comment long enough?

  • We went to Napa and Sonoma Valley. Just went to Disneyworld last December w/ the family for the first time. Loved it!

  • we had little to no money, so we drove to the grand canyon from southern california. funny thing is, we got married in january. not exactly the ideal time to visit the grand canyon. it ended up snowing part of the time. we still enjoyed ourselves =)

  • We rented a convertible and took a 3 week trip through northern California and down HWY 1. We had a fantastic time!

We went to a German Bavarian village in Washington called Leavenworth. It was very unique and enjoyable. Thanks for visiting my Aloha Friday.

Since we were married on the beach, Bryan and I decided to do something completely opposite for our HM. We rented a GORGEOUS cabin in the Smoky Mountains, just outside of Gatlinburg, TN. It was incredible. A week of snuggling by the fireplace, relaxing in the hottub that overlooked the Smokies, horseback riding, hiking and other fun things around the area up there. The highlight of the week was that the Smokies got it’s first snowfall the week we were there. It was just the upper part of the mountains. And we were lucky enough to be in the right spot, at the right time, as they opened the road to Clingman’s Dome the day after it snowed. Clingman’s Dome is the 3rd highest elevation in the US…and we got to be one of the first dozen or so people to hike up to it on the fresh fallen snow! The view from the top was AMAZING!!

When you guys decide to come back down to Disney with the boys…we’d love to have you over for a visit!!
