Thank you to everyone for the prayers and get well wishes. JSL and I are home. We were released from the hospital this afternoon. He was waving bye-bye to everyone as we left. He fell asleep before we even made it out of the parking garage. I do not have the heart to wake him up now since he is breathing and sleeping so peacefully. Thanks to that he is sitting in his reclined highchair with his coat and hat still on. Not the best, but I could not try to remove them.
I put in a load of laundry quickly to wash blankets and things. I wanted all of JSL’s sheets and things washed. Those are done now, along with some amazing new flannel blankets for JSL and pillow cases that my friend Laura (the squish yarn guru) made for us. NHL is going to be so thrilled to see his new pillow cases and his Muppets blanket.
Sleep is something foreign to me and I am not sure if I will be able to accomplish it without JSL in our bed tonight. His breathing is still funky thanks to the mucous factor. We will see how things go once he wakes up. We are supposed to follow up with our doctor on Friday (2:00 appointment) and give him the antibiotic for the ear infection/pinkeye, along with continue to do the PT on his chest/back followed by suctioning his nose and mouth. My biggest concern is keeping him hydrated. He gags on solid foods and has a tough time nursing thanks to being congested. I do his therapy prior to nursing to help, but it only helps so much.
Update: JSL just woke up and we did the therapy/torture. He is SO happy in the ExerSaucer romping around. I am going to take him to nurse in a few minutes (letting him settle after doing the suctioning fun) since he has not had anything since 11:00 this morning.
Glad that he’s up and romping and happy! I hope he continues to get better (and you get a decent night’s sleep tonight!)
I’m thrilled to hear that JSL is getting better, what a horrible scare it must’ve been for all of you. Our thoughts, prayers, and good wishes are being sent.
Kim: Thanks! It is hard to tell him not to do something when he’s romping since it is SO nice to see him moving around now.
Megastein: Thanks :) It really was the worst thing I have ever been through and hope never to have anything else top it. I would never wish this on my worst enemy. Hugs to you and all out your way.
