Post be gone

If you could see me right now you would notice steam coming out of my ears. I am beyond annoyed at this moment. I wrote a post for Aloha Friday earlier this evening. Along the way, I saved it several times. Then I went to get the little guy to sleep. Hubby went to check it out for me. At that very moment he saw a bug crawling into my keyboard. He went to stop the bug and "POOF" my post was gone. He figured that was nothing since I had saved it. Well, that joke was on both of us since WordPress apparently overwrote my saved post with a blank one. The only item saved was the title.

I am just too tired and frustrated to reblog that post at this point. Of course, my theory is anything I type may just be eaten by the post Gremlin at this point. This happened once before, so I am definitely leary.

So my question to you this week:

What is the most frustrating thing to you about computer technology? Have you ever had had a post just disappear even after you saved it? If you have, what did you do?

On that note, I am off to sulk about my nice post that is now history. I will leave you with a preview of NHL’s birthday cupcake cones from last weekend.

Care for a cupcake cone?

Have a great weekend everyone!

The cupcakes look delicious! The most frustrating thing about computer technology is my lack of understanding of it. Happy Aloha Friday!

  • Heatherlyn says:

I hate it when my computer kind of takes a long time to process something. Like when you are typing and it stops and pauses and you can’t see all of the word you are typing. That’s annoying.

    The cupcakes look great!

  • Kiki says:

Send some of those cupcakes my way. I think I’ll steal the idea for lil’ D’a 5th b’day. I haven’t had any issues with blogging or my computer. There is a lot to all this bloggy world that I don’t understand or will even attempt. Aloha and take care.

  • I get really frustrated with the HTML codes. I remember writing an article and I was almost done with it. I hit the wrong button and it was GONE – no way to retrieve it. CTRL Z didn’t do anything to help (a lot of times this will undo what you did). ♥ Happy Friday! ♥

  • I have totally had that happen to me. Actually it it usually with email. We have email through my daycare site still and when I log in if I write someone a particularily long email it logs me out in the middle of writing. So, when I go to hit send it tells me log back in to my email and poof email is gone. I usually end up sending a much shorter note or nothing at all. It makes me crazy.

  • Melissa says:

    Yum!

I get frustrated with everything computer related.

  • Parts of my master thesis have dissapeared and I had to write them again :S

  • Oh man! That stinks!! One of the most frustrating things I’ve had to deal with was when my printer isn’t working. It seems like it always breaks down when I need it immediately, and no matter what I try it doesn’t work to fix it!

    Cute cupcakes, by the way!!

  • blueviolet says:

Yep, I had that happen about 2 weeks ago. It’s pretty crippling how you feel. The thought of starting over is too much to bear. I went to bed and then just redid it in the morning but it wasn’t as good the second time around (at least that’s how I felt.)

  • Melissa says:

Where to begin?! One of the most memorable moments was when I was on the last leg of my Masters thesis, took a bathroom break and came back to a hard drive failure! Nice.

Hope NHL had a wonderful birthday and enjoyed those delicious looking cupcake cones! My fave!

  • Drahdrah says:

It hasn’t happened to me on a post, but definitely on emails. You hit send, get an error message, and the email is gone… grrrrrrrrrrrrr drives me bananas.
What frustrates me most about technology is the threat of viruses.

  • Buffie says:

The most technologically frustrating thing for me is when the computer and/or internet start running slow. It drives me up a wall.

  • I guess my main frustration is my lack of knowledge when it comes to html and graphic design…not so much a frustration with the technology, but with myself.

  • shelly says:

The most frustrating thing I’ve had with technology on my computer is when my old laptop caught a virus and they could not retrieve anything off it. We had forgotten to back up all our photos so we lost them!

  • Michelle says:

I use to have a lot of problems with my old laptop. The charger would go out, I got a virus, it crashed a few times. It seemed like I had my life in there and it was so frustrating.

  • Eileen says:

This is very strange? I swear this was not what was here last time I tried to enter a comment…

I will have to ponder this one.

Moving onto your question… I have had a lot of computer issues this spring one died and my wireless has been acting funky. I think I got all of my issues resolved in time for back to school.

  • First those photos are making me want a snack so badly! YUMMY

ok – The hardest things is to keep up. There is some new tool or code that comes out every single week. It’s hard to pick and choose what works and what doesn’t for your blog.

As for your post being history that is the worst. I would have to type it again or move on. lol

  • Elle says:

    So creative with the cupcakes!

I think the hardest thing was getting our website started. I just jumped in not knowing anything and it was so frustrating. At times I just wanted to scream and throw my computer against the wall.

  • Michelle says:

I have a love/hate relationship with my computer. Just last night I was getting ont he internet when suddenly the mouse quit working. It took me about 20 frustrated minutes to realize the batteries in the cordless mouse had died. Argghhh!

  • Swoozie says:

Disappearing posts is my demise! Although it doesn’t happen too often; I say once is enough to make a person crazy. My hubby tells me to put my post in Microsoft Word and save it there but……cripe I don’t have time for all that! Heh Heh! It should save it when it says it’s saving it! Right???

Yummy cupcakes by the way! And my 3 yr old son has that same Lightning McQueen car —–as he just pointed out since he is sitting on my lap! Kids don’t miss a thing!

  • I have only had a post disappear once & I am sure it was caused by my user error.

The only other major issue I have had with my laptop is when I broke the charging cord trying to ride my exercise bike while I blogged. Yes, I am that big of an idiot.

  • Mika says:

My biggest frustrations were always when I worked at a document imaging company – disappearing documents were the bane of my existence. Of course it meant redoing several hours of work. Now if I write a long blog post I do it in Word and save every few minutes…I HATE when WordPress eats a post! There’s nothing worse than putting all your energy into writing and then — nothing. I feel your pain!

  • I will take a cupcake and a cupcake cone please.

I hate the blue screen of death. When my work laptops get towards the end of their life cycle they will start bluescreening on me all the time. I hate when I’m working on something and didn’t save it before the blue screen appears. That happened a few times to me and I would have to start over. Very frustrating.

  • Kimberly says:

I want to eat those delicious cupcakes! Thats what is frustrating me right now! But computer wise, I have had whole post disappear on me and it sucks! There really is nothing you can do except rewrite. It has happened to me when writing reviews and giveaways which is so horrible because I spend a ton of time making sure that those are perfect. My laptop is super slow these days and I am not sure why. Every time I try to type something it doesn’t compute half of the keys I typed. I end of having a WPM rate of 2! Some posts take forever!

  • mellisa rock says:

I think the most frustrating thing about my computer technology is the person using it. LoL. Although I have had a few disappearing posts on my myspace blog. It always make me steam too!

  • Hmmm, I can’t say I’ve ever lost a post, but the most frustrating things for me is the fact that I can’t seem to put my laptop down. Ever.
I have an iphone, so I can always get email, go online, etc. I almost wish I could force myself to be inaccessible, but I just can’t! I’m in too deep!

  • Nina says:

Technology drives me nuts especially when things don’t work. I normally write out my posts in a journal in a word document. I don’t like to post daily so if things come to mind or I have an Aloha question idea I write it out in word and save it.

    Love the cone cupcakes.

  • Thom says:

I don’t think I’ve ever lost a post. I’ve had a problem with automatic updating vs. the update I do and getting the two reconciled but that’s about it. The most frustrating thing I’ve had to do and deal with is the HTML coding. I wish it was easier LOL
