End of vacation blues

By the time you are reading this, we will be spending our last day at Walt Disney World. I will likely be twitching a lot from internet withdrawal, but family time with Mickey Mouse is well worth it. Of course, Saturday will be the plane ride home and by the night I will be mostly unpacked and ready to do tons of laundry on Sunday.

So my question to you is quite simple this week:

How do you ease end of vacation blues?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is our first family vacation since we have had the kids, so it is going to be hard to remember how to deal with this after the fact.

  • A super hot shower in my own bathroom always seems to help.
My other tip, before I go on trips I put fresh sheets on my bed.

i try to leave the house really clean when i leave so that i come back to it that way. but if not….which sometimes happens…i take lots of deep breaths and remind myself of how wonderful the vacation is and how all the laundry/cleaning/unpacking is totally worth it!!!!

and i ease back into “real life” – usually we go out for dinner when we get home so we get one more day of not doing dishes!:-)

Ah, parting is such sweet sorrow. Seems like I every time I come back from vacation, I tell myself I’m going to live as though I’m still on vacation — relaxed and not rushed or worried. But of course it doesn’t last.

  • I usually try not to have too high expectations of myself once I return from a trip. I try to only do 2 or 3 loads of laundry a day and try not to do a big grocery store run until I have a weekend.
